OneSmart Held the 30th Academic Annual Conference Together
with the Chinese Society of Education
The Chinese Society of Education (CSE), run by the Ministry of Education (MOE), was established in 1979 and has nearly 40 years of history. It has 54 branches, 196 member units and over 10,000 individual members. CSE is the most authoritative and influential educational academic organization.
The Annual Academic Conference of CSE is an annual event in the education industry. The 30th academic conference is exclusively hosted by OneSmart Education and the conference provides academic and experience education to over 2,000 educational authorities, experts, primary and secondary school principals and educators throughout the platform.
From 18 to 19 November, the 30th academic conference of the CSE, sponsored by the Chinese Society of Education and hosted by OneSmart Education, convened in Shanghai. The theme of the conference this year is "Equality, Qualification and Diversification - future-oriented basic education in China".
Nearly 2,000 participants from the Ministry of Education, UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, China National Commission for UNESCO, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education, and many people in the industry from all over China attended the conference. The Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Education is an annual event of education industry. With the strong support from the Ministry of Education, all levels of governments, member units and relevant social organizations, the Academic Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Education has conducted professional academic exchanges and discussions on the hot spots and trends in the education industry for 29 sessions.

Wang Dinghua, the Director of the Department of Teacher Education at the Ministry of Education, attended the opening ceremony of the annual conference and delivered a speech. He said that this annual meeting is an important and specific move to learn from and implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of CPC. He emphasized that teachers are the primary resources for the development of education and the key to providing quality education, facilitating fair education, promoting education modernization and building a powerful nation for education. The team-building should focus on the following aspects: first, to stress the ethics of teachers; second, to train high-quality teachers; third, to deepen the comprehensive reform of teacher management; fourth, to promote respect for teachers in society.
Wang hoped that CSE would continue to focus on its positioning, make good use of its advantages, keep providing service for education and teaching, support education reforms, pay attention to team building, and actively participate in international cooperation. He believed that CSE would become the promoter of education and teaching reforms, the pathfinder for the reform of education mechanism, and the leader of the international education research.

Zhong Binglin, the president of CSE, in his opening speech, stressed that since the beginning of the 21st century, the achievements made in education in China have drawn world attention and the educational development has levelled up to the middle and upper ranks of the world. He also pointed out that, at present, the major contradictions in the field of education in China are the contradictions between the people's fervent hope of receiving a high-quality education and the serious shortage of quality education resources, especially in terms of their uneven development. The fundamental way to solve the contradiction is to change the mode of education development and insist on connotative development characterized by improving the quality and optimizing the structure. The key points are as follows: first, we must unswervingly uphold the core status of the moral-building and talent-nurturing principle; second, we must earnestly strengthen the building of the teaching staff; third, we must take initiative to respond to the new challenges of education reform and development, such as the reform of college entrance examination enrolment system or the construction of internet-based teaching modes to explore STEAM education.

Wei Jia, the Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SMEC), mentioned both the opportunities and the challenges brought by the era of Artificial Intelligence in his speech. He believed that with the development of science and technology, basic education needs to face three new topics. During the era of Artificial Intelligence, how can education help students deal with it? In the age of globalization, how can we tell students the stories of our own people? And to meet the demand for talent for social development, what kind of talent-training mode do we need? Jia believed that the development of culture in the process of economic globalization would surely show the characteristics of diversification and integration. It is bound to have an impact on the local culture in China. So how do we prevent the adverse effects of other cultures on students? That is an important issue and a challenge for educators.

Xi Zhang, the founder and CEO of OneSmart Education, said that modern education has been able to cultivate and stimulate students' learning ability through certain scientific and technological means so as to eliminate unfair education and make every student enjoy quality education resources as much as possible . The current reform of basic education focuses on the development of quality education and the cultivation of students' core literacy. Nianlu Yang, the Executive Vice-President and Secretary-General of CSE, hosted the opening ceremony. Nianlu Yang introduced that the Academic Annual Conference of CSE is a comprehensive academic event. The congress brought together renowned experts and scholars, teachers, principals and educators in the field of basic education in China to discuss and explore ways to deepen the reform of basic education, to promote fair education and to improve the quality of education, so that every child can enjoy fair and quality education. It is also a gala for theoretical innovation, institutional innovation and practice innovation.
In the morning of the 18th, Hongqi Chu, the Vice President of Beijing Academy of Education Sciences and Vice Chairman of Academic Committee of CSE, made a keynote speech themed "Course, Experience and Mode of Educational Modernization in China". In the afternoon of the 19th, Feng Chen, the Director of National Center for Schooling Development Programme of MOE, delivered the keynote speech titled "Transformation of Education Modernization and Future Education Form".
In order to extensively exchange experience in education and teaching reform of educators, to allow more educators to participate in educational academic research and to promote the specialization of basic education workers in a new era, this conference also sets up a guest interviews around the theme of the conference, two thematic dialogues, 12 sub-forums and 15 micro-forums. More than 100 educational experts attended in-depth discussions in different forums to present and share the latest research and practical achievements of basic education innovation and development.

This conference also included the 2017 Asia-Pacific Education Innovation Wen Hui Award Ceremony. The award recognized the Asia-Pacific region for its outstanding contribution to innovation in education and its encouragement of continuous exploration and innovation in improving teaching quality through educational innovators and educational institutions that improve teaching quality. Three Projects, namely "Beyond the Border - Teacher Training" from Cambodia, "Project 360 for Teacher Development Education Professional Development" in Malaysia, and "Mother Tongue-Based Sustainable Multilingual Teacher Training for Teachers in Thailand's Southern Conflict Areas" from Thailand, won the 2017 Wenhui Award Honor Awards. The project "Teacher Professional Development - Rural Teacher Training under the CMC Education Model" from China and the project "Building Responsible Southeast Asian Distinguished Teacher for the 21st Century" from the Philippines became the winner of the 2017 Wen Hui Award.
In the afternoon of the 19th, the conference also awarded winners of the Paper Award and Outstanding Organization Award of 2017, the most influential micro-paper of CSE, and the outstanding special observer of CSE.
